WEEK 11
During the holidays I was able to gain a better understanding of the many and varied jobs in the VFX industry through reading books and collecting information. I learned a lot about careers that I was completely unaware of and gained insight into all the previously misunderstood careers, which helped to clarify my study plans and goals.
To be honest, at the moment, I’m sure i only start as an assistant or a runner, but that’s a normal start. But if you ask me which position do I want to be in? Or which career would I want to work towards once I learn more about it? I would definitely choose VFX supervisors.
VFX supervisors are responsible for the entire VFX project. After team working during the first session I found that I enjoyed being part of the main team on the project, the VFX supervisors had to be on set and in post-production, so they were closely connected to every part of the production. It’s a lot of work but there’s a great sense of involvement. It’s a great way to express your ideas and you can communicate and learn a lot during the production process.
I believe that every VFX person has a dream of their own film. I certainly hope that one day I will be able to make my own films. I also understand that as a VFX supervisor myself, I need to have strong technical skills, strong communication skills and leadership skills. I hope that in the coming semester I can improve my skills in all aspects and become a VFS supervisor one day.
